Discover Unique Creations
by Melanie Salazar

I started paining in acrylics in 2010 as a way to reconnect to my love of creating art. I especially loved using metallic and iridescent paints to create beautiful reflective effects in my abstract art pieces. I drew inspiration from Gutave Klimt, the Art Deco movement, Japanese art, folk art, and abstract art.

During the pandemic, I realized that painting no longer felt like an expression of "me" - of who I am on the inside, and I felt lost without the steady rhythm of creating art that had previously brought me so much joy. After moving I discovered a local art supply shop, and discovered Posca art markers as well as a love of working with India ink. I switched mediums and rediscovered the joy of creating art.

Horror themes have become a central component of my new art style as a vehicle to express my emotions around the daily horrors of this modern world.
