Melanie has been a professional artist creating work in mixed media since 2010. She began working with metallic and reflective acrylic paints and collage elements, drawing inspiration from Gustave Klimt, the Art Deco movement, Japanese art, folk art, and abstract art.

 

In the past she’s created art from a desire to use color, texture, and subject matter in an intuitive, playful way depicting animals, goddess figures, and abstract landscapes and shapes that feel peaceful and uplifting.

She believes that art is a powerful way to capture our duality of light and dark energies and the fascinating intersection between them.

 

Since the pandemic her approach to her art has shifted more towards exploring horror and gothic themes as a vehicle to express her emotions around the daily darkness of this modern world.
